Description

We are offering a short-term contract employment opportunity for a Staff Accountant in Washington, District of Columbia. This role falls within the financial industry and will be based in a professional workplace setting. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for a variety of accounting tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records, preparing and reconciling general ledger accounts, assisting in budgeting and forecasting activities, and managing accounts payable and receivable.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with department heads to ensure the accuracy of all financial reporting activities
• Assist in the preparation and distribution of financial statements
• Maintain up-to-date and accurate financial records for various clients
• Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations
• Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts, reviewing and analyzing financial statements for discrepancies and variances
• Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets for clients and contribute to financial forecasting activities to support strategic planning
• Conduct regular bank and account reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies to ensure accuracy in financial reporting
• Process vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner, reconciling vendor statements and resolving any discrepancies
• Generate and send client invoices in accordance with established procedures, monitoring and following up on overdue accounts to facilitate timely payments
• Collaborate with external auditors and internal teams during audits, providing necessary documentation and support for audit processes
• Stay current on relevant accounting regulations and industry standards, ensuring clients adhere to financial compliance requirements
• Interact with clients to understand their specific financial needs and provide timely and accurate financial information and reports
• Utilize accounting software to streamline financial processes, staying updated on technological advancements in accounting software.


Requirements

• Possess proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) operations
• Capable of performing Bank Reconciliations accurately and efficiently
• Demonstrated expertise in maintaining General Ledger
• Experienced in recording Journal Entries
• Ability to efficiently handle Month End Close procedures
• Familiarity with accounting software such as NetSuite, Oracle, QuickBooks, and SAP
• Proficient in managing Payable Invoices
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work
• Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
• Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
• Ability to adapt to new tools and software as needed
• Proven record of maintaining confidentiality and handling sensitive information with discretion.
