Database Administrator

Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, security, and performance optimization of enterprise databases. This role supports mission‑critical data platforms across SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL environments—both on‑premises and in the cloud.

The ideal candidate is highly skilled in managing large, high‑availability MySQL and PostgreSQL environments, experienced in SQL Server and Oracle administration, and adept at driving automation, architecture planning, and operational excellence across multiple database systems.

You will work closely with development, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to optimize performance, streamline deployments, and ensure seamless data operations.


Key Responsibilities

Database Platform Administration

  • Install, configure, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server (SSMS, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS)
  • Set up new databases, servers, and related infrastructure
  • Administer SQL Server clustering, replication, and high‑availability solutions
  • Manage MySQL and PostgreSQL databases in high‑availability, large‑scale environments
  • Maintain Oracle databases, including RAC, Data Guard, OEM, and RMAN backup strategies

Performance, Reliability & Monitoring

  • Monitor and maintain database performance, integrity, and security
  • Analyze query execution plans and optimize SQL queries
  • Identify and resolve deadlocks and slow‑running queries
  • Perform index tuning, statistics updates, and consistency checks
  • Utilize monitoring tools (SQL Profiler, Extended Events, Performance Monitor, OEM, shell scripts)

Upgrades, Migrations & Patching

  • Perform database upgrades, patches, and migrations
  • Support on‑premises to Azure migrations
  • Manage Azure Managed Instances and cloud‑based databases (Azure, AWS RDS, EC2)
  • Implement DR testing, backups, restorations, and failover validation

Security & Compliance

  • Apply database security measures including TDE, auditing, and access controls
  • Ensure compliance with STIG, encryption, and regulatory standards
  • Manage user accounts, roles, permissions, and audit trails

Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain comprehensive database documentation including architecture diagrams, configuration baselines, and change logs
  • Generate reports for performance metrics, growth trends, capacity planning, and utilization

Operational Support

  • Provide Tier 3 support for database‑related incidents
  • Participate in on‑call rotations
  • Troubleshoot and resolve platform‑level and integration‑level issues


Requirements

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
  • Oracle and SQL certifications preferred
  • 5–10+ years of DBA experience, including enterprise‑level SQL Server and Oracle administration
  • Proficiency with:
  • SQL Server clustering, Always‑On Availability Groups
  • Oracle RAC, RMAN, Data Guard, OEM
  • MySQL and PostgreSQL in high‑availability environments
  • Azure Managed Instance, Azure SQL, AWS RDS, EC2
  • Strong Linux shell scripting skills
  • Experience with on‑premises to cloud migration projects
  • Skilled in performance tuning, optimization, and troubleshooting
