Description

We are offering a short term contract employment opportunity for a Software Engineer in Austin, Texas. This role entails working closely with various technologies and systems, including Apache Struts, C++, Databases, EO/IR systems, and Hibernate ORM. The successful candidate will be tasked with the development, testing, and maintenance of software applications, utilizing their skills in AB Testing, Ajax, and API development.

Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and implement software applications using Ruby on Rails, C++, and other programming languages.
• Work extensively with APIs, SDKs, and libraries, ensuring their seamless integration within the system.
• Apply defensive programming techniques to enhance the security and reliability of the software.
• Utilize knowledge of algorithms, design patterns, and programming best practices to optimize the performance of the software.
• Collaborate with the software engineering team to perform A/B testing, identify potential improvements, and implement necessary changes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of EO/IR systems and apply this knowledge in the development process.
• Utilize Hibernate ORM for mapping an object-oriented domain model to a relational database.
• Develop and manage databases to ensure the secure and effective storage of data.
• Work with Apache Struts as a framework for creating enterprise-ready Java web applications.
• Use Ajax for creating asynchronous web applications, enhancing the user experience by increasing the web page's interactivity, speed, and usability.
• Develop API specifications and ensure their correct implementation in the software.

Requirements

• Proficiency in Apache Struts, C++, Database, EO/IR systems, Hibernate ORM, AB Testing, Ajax, API Development, ASP.NET, CSS, Ruby on Rails, API specifications, and API - Application Programming Interface
• Experience in software engineering and development
• Ability to design, code, test, debug and document software according to the functional requirements
• Knowledge in developing, implementing and maintaining high-quality software systems, using Java and web technologies
• Demonstrated experience with software development methodologies
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• A degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
• Experience with version control systems like Git or SVN
• A solid understanding of web application development processes, from the layout/user interface to relational database structures.
